Capital of Northwest Azerbaijan, ancient eastern cultural center. The quality of these rugs varies, the carpets made before 1945 are denser (the number of knots per m² is higher), and they were dyed with natural colours. Nowadays it’s done with synthetic dyed yarn - nevertheless Tabriz carpets are one of the most valuable ones in Iran and elsewhere. Colours - dark red and strong blue are dominating combined with ivory cream, creating interesting contrasts in shades of colour. In newer rugs, soft green and brown are also used. Wool - soft, thin and dense pile.
