Sanandaj (Senneh) Sanandaj is the Kurdish capital of 400,000 inhabitants, located in western Iran. The Sanandaj carpets are knotted from the highest quality wool by kurdish. The pattern is usually six-pointed, straight-edged medallion surrounded by the pattern of Herat or Botehi over the entire carpet. The edges of the carpet are decorated with a fine pattern. The background is mostly cherry-red, dark-blue, black, brown, ocher and beige. The pattern is in yellow, red, light green, orange or white tones. The carpets are highly valued, therefore quite expensive.
