Nanaj is located in western Iran, near Malayer, about 100 km north-west of the city of Farahan. Nanay rugs resemble the famous Farahan rugs in design and colour, but are thicker. Herat's image is used, often allover the whole carpet (diamond-shaped flower and leaf motif).
